Have you noticed it is challenging to communicating with your child about difficult things?
Play therapy is a great way to bridge the gap adults often feel when trying to understand their child’s experiences.
What is play therapy?
Research shows that play is a child’s preferred language; toys are the child’s words! It allows them to have fun, learn, explore, and communicate fluently with adults about the things they are experiencing. Children often do not have the resources they need to verbalize what they think and feel. Often, children are unable to find the words to explain why the misbehave.
More specifically, the Association of Play Therapy describes play therapy as “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help patients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.”
"Enter into children’s play and you will find the place their minds, hearts,
and souls meet.”
